Someone recently wrote a letter to Christ in Me International saying that they do not believe in a physical Kingdom of GOD, but rather a spiritual Kingdom of GOD where Jesus is King.
Now, right off the bat, one may ask how it is possible for Jesus to be King in GOD’s Kingdom. Shouldn’t GOD be KING in HIS own Kingdom? Yes, Jesus is a King according to Scripture, but according to Scripture GOD is also KING. Who then is KING over GOD’s Kingdom, and who are the other kings and lords?
Deuteronomy 10:17 (NKJV)
For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe.
1 Timothy 6:11-16
But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. (12) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (13) I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, (14) that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, (15) which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, (16) who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.
First of all, when we look at verse 11 we see that we are men of GOD and not men of Jesus, because Jesus was also a ‘man of GOD’. When we continue to verse 13 we see that it is GOD, not Jesus, who gives life to all things – contrary to what we have been taught. Verse 15 states that GOD alone will decide when Jesus Christ’s appearing (the coming of the Son) will happen. It is important to remember that it is GOD’s decision when the second coming will be and not Jesus’ decision. In fact, Jesus will not be part of the second coming in person, because he died and was raised so that many Sons would be raised at the second coming. The “appearing” of Jesus Christ is the “revelation knowledge” of Jesus Christ – the distinction between Jesus Christ (spirit) and Jesus (flesh) – which will cause many Christian children to be raised into mature Sons of GOD. In other words, the appearing of Jesus Christ is the appearing of the Sons of GOD. The verse further states that GOD ALONE IS POTENTATE, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Finally, verse 16 once again confirms GOD as the invisible GOD, which disqualifies Jesus Christ as GOD.
Scripture is clear, as can be seen above, that GOD is KING and that HIS Sons (including Jesus Christ) are the other kings and lords. Please also read the article, “King and Leader” for more on this topic.
Let us now continue to the question of ‘physical or spiritual Kingdom?’
In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. (10) Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. (11) Give us this day our daily bread. (12) And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. (13) And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
We all know Jesus’ prayer: “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. Jesus’ prayer once again confirms that GOD is KING in heaven; he is speaking to GOD who is the ruling KING in Heaven (spiritual realm) and asks HIM to manifest HIS Kingdom on earth (to make heaven visible on earth). But, isn’t that the whole point, to make heaven visible on earth? Unfortunately, we were taught to live good lives, believe in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross and go to heaven – which is so far from the truth. The church does not preach what Jesus preached, but instead started to preach about “Jesus”, as opposed to the message that Jesus preached, which was always about “the Kingdom of GOD”.
Did GOD not manifest HIS Kingdom through Jesus Christ while he was on the earth? Yes, HE did. You could simply look at Jesus and know what GOD was busy with. While we are on earth, it is impossible for us to see GOD, or HIS Kingdom in heaven – but what we can see is GOD’s Sons expressing HIM and HIS Kingdom on earth (as was the case with Jesus when he walked the earth.)
Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; (25) but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. (26) But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. (27) So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ (28) He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ (29) But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. (30) Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” ‘ “
And please continue to;
The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. (39) The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. (40) Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. (41) The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, (42) and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (43) Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Scripture is very clear on this; the Kingdom consists of many Sons who will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their FATHER – not only one Son, let alone calling that Son ‘GOD the Son’. The church is working against GOD when they preach these things.
The parable explains the following: The seed/word is the Sons in the Kingdom of GOD. Sons are GOD’s plan and dream for this earth. Please see Numbers 14:21, But truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.
The Kingdom is the world, because the whole world belongs to GOD and will one day be given back to HIM by HIS Sons.
At harvest time, or the second coming, Christians will believe and understand (grow into mature ‘grain’) that they are also mature Sons of GOD, just like their older brother Jesus Christ. This is the only way the earth will ever look like heaven. Imagine a world full of ‘Jesuses’, where every person is a ‘Jesus’ and every decision is made just like Jesus would! That is the purpose of Christ in you… to be like your older brother and manifest heaven on earth.
For three years (from his baptism until his ascension) Jesus, as a Son, showed the world what the invisible GOD was busy with – the restoration plan of GOD, whereby man was once again reconciled with GOD. In fact, Jesus died to manifest the Kingdom on earth.
Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
Now, at the harvest time (the second coming) GOD can work through many Sons in order to establish the Kingdom of GOD on earth, for all firstly to see and then to join. As soon as Christians are able to get their heads out of the clouds (heaven teaching), take up their birth right and mature into Sons, heaven can become visible on earth – and ultimately GOD can become visible on earth.
It is clear why the world is full of churches, but the earth is still not reflecting heaven, because all Christians are still children. Why is this? Because the church did not teach them that they are mature Sons of GOD, and as able as Jesus Christ, their older brother, was.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
But why did Jesus say that the Kingdom is inside of you and does not come with observation?
Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; (21) nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
At first glance it would seem that GOD’s Kingdom is and will always be invisible, according to what the person who wrote the letter believes. Consider the following; when Jesus Christ returns on a cloud at the second coming to manifest GOD’s Kingdom, according to religion, will that also take place without observation according to this scripture?
The answer is simple, GOD is SPIRIT, and HIS SPIRIT is in you. Christ is in you and therefore also GOD’s Kingdom. Everything in the spirit is already within you.
Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
You have the full solution and ability to make GOD and HIS Kingdom visible. Please keep in mind that you are also a spirit and that you only have to observe the flesh to see what is going on in the spirit. The Kingdom, just like GOD, is spiritual. It is MADE visible; however, it is always spiritual by nature. Therefore, you do not build a physical kingdom; YOU MAKE THE SPIRITUAL KINGDOM VISIBLE. Similarly, when you make GOD visible, you do not become GOD. Unfortunately, this is where religion gets it wrong. Religion calls Jesus GOD because he made GOD visible. They made the mistake that Jesus told them not to make in Luke 17: ‘See God is here! Or See GOD is there!’ They called flesh GOD, but GOD was inside Jesus Christ, just like the Kingdom was inside him. He too made the invisible GOD visible! You do not become GOD when you make GOD visible.
Back to the person who wrote the letter. When you deny that GOD’s Kingdom is physical and believe that GOD’s Kingdom is only spiritual, you basically deny Jesus’ prayer in Matthew 6 and ultimately work against GOD and keeping HIM from becoming visible to the world.
GOD is not made visible through friendships, bedside manners or even welfare programs run by churches where Christians hand out food and blankets.
John 14:9 (NKJV)
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Sons manifest GOD! There are many Christian children that need to become Sons; it is a big world we live in with a lot of places where Sons need to make decisions. GOD needs many Sons to make HIM visible over the whole earth – in every household, school, business and government.
CHURCH, wake up and look at what Jesus preached about. THE KINGDOM! Take up your birthright and grow up to become mature Sons and manifest the spiritual Kingdom. We at Christ in Me International teach you just that. You are also a Son of GOD!
We can all testify that most of the wonders and signs we have seen have been performed in the Name of Jesus. We can all testify that not only signs and wonders were seen, but also miracles performed in the Name of Jesus. Some of us can testify about a family member who was healed following a prayer in the Name of Jesus, while others can testify about how they were met with the fullness of heaven after praying – in the Name of Jesus – for GOD to help them in their time of need. There are some who will even testify that they got free from a drug addiction through a prayer in Jesus’ Name.
What power lies in praying in the Name of Jesus that causes wonders and miracles to follow?
Let us look at the following example. Many of us, at one time or another, have had the unfortunate experience of being pulled over by a traffic officer due to speeding or some other traffic offense. The moment that the traffic officer appears from his hiding place, signalling us to stop, we regrettably put on the brakes and obey his command.
Why is this? Why do we stop when an officer signals us to stop? What power does he have to make us listen and obey? The answer is simple; the power does not come from the officer himself but from the authority that the officer carries. He performs his function on behalf of the highest authority of the country by enforcing its laws and commandments. He comes in the ‘name’ of the highest authority of the country (the President, in South Africa’s case). For all intents and purposes, when that traffic officer is signalling us to stop, it is as if the president himself is signalling us to stop.
Through this basic principle, we can understand what it means to pray in the Name or with the Name of Jesus. Yes, there is a difference in praying in the Name and with the Name. We never understood this principle and as a result, we were taught to pray with the Name of Jesus rather than in the Name of Jesus; we used the Name of Jesus as a ‘magic wand’. We believed that if we started or ended a sentence or prayer with the words “in the Name of Jesus” that it would seal the deal and be as good as done. If we are honest with ourselves, we know that this is the truth and that we misused it. For where the right use is not clear, misuse is inevitable.
This is not what GOD intended with regards to praying in the Name. You may ask what then does it mean when Jesus says, “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it”? When we refer to the Name we should not look at the physical name but rather at what that Name represents. This is the difference between with the Name and in the Name.
Let us look at the words of Jesus Christ.
John 5:43 (NKJV)
I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.
The Name and authority that Jesus Christ was using was the Name and authority of his FATHER, GOD. When Jesus is saying ‘whatever you ask in my Name’, He is referring to the Name and authority that he is walking in, the Name and authority he was sent in – the Name of the FATHER.
When a child is born, whose name does that child carry? The father’s name. When a bride gets married to her husband, whose name does she carry? The name of her husband (who in turn also carries the name of his father). She receives the sir’s name, hence the term ‘surname’. When she swipes her credit card, what name is written on the card? In what name does she swipe the credit card? In the sir’s name.
According to the Bible, you receive a name either by birth or by marriage.
This is the example Jesus Christ was for us. For he too was a Son and Wife of GOD and received the FATHER’s Name. Jesus Christ was born from above, at the Jordan river. At that moment his father and mother were no longer Joseph and Mary; he did not carry their name anymore. From thereon his FATHER was GOD and he carried the Name of GOD. He no longer walked in his own authority or name. From thereon he walked in the Name and authority of GOD.
I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me…
Let us look at the example of a trust for further explanation; say there is a trust that belongs to the ‘Muller’ family name. If your surname is Muller, you would have access to this trust. If you want to access this trust, you need the name ‘Muller’. If you do not have the name Muller, you need to ask, ‘in the name of a Muller’.
This is what happened with Jesus Christ. He was the first one born of GOD, carrying the FATHER’s Name. The ‘Family Trust’, the heavens and all its provisions belonged to Jesus Christ; he had access to it because he carried the Name of the FATHER. He was an heir. While Jesus Christ was on earth, nobody could access this ‘Family Trust’ except through the Name of Jesus Christ, as he was the only one who carried the Name of the FATHER. If you wanted to access the provision of the ‘trust’ you had to ask in the Name of Jesus Christ, for you did not have the Name yet. If you needed healing or provision and you went to the ‘trust’ you would not receive it; it is for that reason that Jesus Christ said we should ask in his Name, for he was an heir of that ‘trust’.
This is why Jesus says it is to our advantage for him to go away. He will make it possible for us to carry the same Name. We will also be born of GOD and take the SIR’s Name, the Family Name, the Name of the FATHER.
He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine [The Name of GOD] and declare it to you [belonging to the Family Name]. (15) All things that the Father has are Mine [because he carried the Name of the FATHER]. Therefore, I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you [the Family Trust, inheritance, will belong to us also].
Because of the work GOD did through Jesus Christ we carry the Name of GOD also. Jesus even says there will come a day where you will want to ask in his Name and he will say that it is not necessary for you to ask in his Name, for you carry the same Name also. Ask in your own Name (which is the Name of the FATHER), the trust belongs to you also. You are an heir to the inheritance.
In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; (27) for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.
You may ask, but what about the scripture in Philippians 2 where the Word teaches us that GOD has given Jesus the Name above all names and that at the Name of Jesus every knee will bow.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, (10) that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.
GOD gave Jesus the Name which is above all names. This means that he did not have ‘the Name’ yet. This is not the name ‘Jesus’, for he had this name at birth. Jesus received GOD’s Name, for this is the Name above all names. This is the same Name which we receive and thus we bow our knee to the FATHER, not to Jesus Christ.
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (15) from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.
Therefore, Jesus Christ calls us his brothers, for we carry the same Family Name.
Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ “
Philippians 2 carries on saying, “at the name of Jesus”. Note that it says at the Name and not with the Name – for the authority does not lie in recalling the name ‘Jesus’, but rather in the authority of the Name which Jesus carried.
In Acts 19 we find a passage where it is written of the sons of Sceva who prayed with the Name of Jesus and not in the Name. They tried to use the name Jesus as a ‘magic wand’. Needless to say, they got a beating.
The name ‘Jesus’ was not the authority and power. It is the Name in which Jesus operated that had the authority and power. He moved in the Name and authority of the FATHER.
Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
Today, because of the work of Jesus Christ, we also carry that Name and can ask the FATHER in our own Name, which is the Family Name.
I remember the Christmases of my childhood. We celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ – the birth of God in the form of a baby who would take away the sin of the world. A part of this never made sense to me, because only a part of this statement is true.
Yes, there was a child who was born supernaturally, who was the son of Mary and Joseph, who would one day become the Lamb of GOD and take away the sin of the world. He would be our High priest, the sacrifice for sin. But GOD was not born in the form of a baby.
Then who exactly was born in Bethlehem, you may ask?
We need to understand that GOD is SPIRIT (John 4:24). GOD is not flesh. He cannot be flesh. Therefore, the statement that GOD was born in the form of a baby is not true. Also, flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of GOD (1 Cor 15:50). The person who was born in Bethlehem was born of flesh. This is not what our GOD is. HE is neither flesh nor blood. HE is SPIRIT.
This, however, still does not answer the question of who was born in Bethlehem.
The person who was born in Bethlehem was a natural ‘Adam’, one without sin. Even though he was supernaturally created by GOD, he was still a natural ‘Adam’, the son of Mary and Joseph. Jesus was born of a natural mother; GOD created a sinless, natural seed which HE put in the womb of Mary. Jesus was born as a baby just like you and me. The only difference was that Jesus was sinless just like the first Adam. He did not carry the corrupt seed of the fallen Adam. Jesus, the baby, was not the Son of GOD. He was the Son of Mary and Joseph (although Joseph was not the biological father).
But the Bible calls Jesus Christ “the Son of GOD”?
Yes, this is true. But one should rather ask the question: when did Jesus Christ become the Son of GOD if it did not happen at his birth in Bethlehem?
For Jesus to become the Son of GOD he had to be born of GOD, born of the SPIRIT, born from Heaven. This birth did not happen in Bethlehem, but at the Jordan River as Scripture teaches us. Jesus, the natural man, was baptised in the Jordan River where he was born of GOD (born from above/Heaven) and became Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD. Jesus, the natural man, was the son of Mary and Joseph while Jesus Christ, the Spirit man, was the Son of GOD. It was at the Jordan River where he received the SPIRIT of GOD.
Matthew 3:16-17 (NKJV)
When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
This was the first time GOD called Jesus Christ HIS Son, as this is where he became the Son of GOD. Before that, he was the Son of Mary and Joseph. He received the SPIRIT of GOD for the first time at the Jordan River, which means that he did not have the SPIRIT of GOD before.
The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ–He is Lord of all– that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
This is a beautiful scripture that confirms what was said above. Jesus received the SPIRIT at Galilee where he was baptised in the Jordan River. He did not receive the SPIRIT in Bethlehem. (Please read the article “What is Christ” for a clearer understanding). But in short, the word ‘Christ’ means anointed. Anointed with what? Anointed with the SPIRIT of GOD, as this scripture states.
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
Jesus was not born Lord and Christ; he was made both Lord and Christ. When? The moment he was born from above at the Jordan River and he received GOD’s SPIRIT was the moment when he was born of GOD and was made Lord and Christ. He was no longer the child of Mary and Joseph, but the Son of GOD.
What about Isaiah 9, you may ask. Before we get to that, let us look at how Paul explains the principle of the natural man and the Spiritual man in 1 Corinthians 15.
1 Corinthians 15:44-49
It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body [the baby Jesus who was born of Mary], and there is a spiritual body [Jesus Christ born of GOD]. And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust [the baby Jesus who was born of Mary]; the second Man is the Lord from heaven [Jesus Christ born of GOD]. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.
Jesus was a natural man, made (born) of dust. The one who was born from Heaven is the Lord. As stated above, Jesus Christ was made Lord by GOD when he became a second man, a Spiritual man, born from Heaven. The fleshly man Jesus was not Lord. Jesus Christ who was born from Heaven was the Lord, the Son of GOD. Paul continues by saying that we will bear the same image as Jesus Christ did because when we are born again, we are also born of GOD (born from Heaven) and anointed with the SPIRIT of GOD (2 Cor 1:21-22).
Now let us look at Isaiah 9 in comparison with the previous scripture.
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Unto us a Child is born [Jesus in Bethlehem, the natural man] – The first man was of the earth, made of dust… (1 Cor 15:47);
Unto us a Son is given [Jesus Christ at the Jordan River in Galilee, the Spiritual man) – the second Man is the Lord from heaven (1 Cor 15:47).
Then Isaiah continues by saying his Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Please understand that it does not say he will be called, but his Name will be called two completely different concepts. A name is used for everything that that name covers, including the thoughts or feelings that are aroused in one’s mind by mentioning, hearing or remembering that name. When you hear the name Hitler, for example, certain thoughts or feelings come to mind. This is because a name represents more than just referring to someone.
Jesus Christ came in the Name of the FATHER.
I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.
Jesus will not be called “Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”, but his Name will be called “Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” When he was baptised and born of GOD, he received the Name of GOD, just as each one of us who are born again receives the Name of GOD (Eph 3:14-15). And that Name, the FATHER’s Name, we represent, will be called “Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
- Wonderful – extraordinary
- Counselor – to advise
- Mighty God – Godlike one, like his Father.
- Everlasting Father – head or founder
- Prince of Peace – leader of completeness.
What comes to mind when you hear the word King? Does your mind jump to the British royal family perhaps, and to the way they function as royalty in our modern society?
What comes to mind when you hear the word King when referring to religion, more specifically Christianity? Do you think of it as an outdated tradition that one reads about in the Bible, a tradition that is no longer applicable to modern society? Do you perhaps think that the word King only refers to Jesus Christ?
In order to shed some light on this subject, let us start with a verse that is of great importance when trying to understand the Spiritual times we find ourselves in, as we understand that the Old Testament is only a shadow of the Spiritual that is to come (Col 2:17; Heb 10:1).
1 Corinthians 15:46 (NKJV)
However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.
In this scripture, Paul teaches us an important principle, that there will always be a natural example of what the spiritual should be.
Now, let us look at the natural happenings of a covenant people and their leader.
In the Natural, GOD had a chosen people, a nation called for HIS Name. Israel. They were GOD’s covenant people. This covenant people had twelve patriarchs and a thirteenth patriarch that would be known as the priestly order of GOD’s covenant people. The priestly order would be known by the family name of Levi and the high priest would stem from this family.
‘Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.
Moses was the appointed leader over the nation of GOD and as Scripture also states it, he ruled the people like a king (Deut 33: 4-5). Still, it was only after the period of the rule of the Judges that Israel officially appointed their first King. The problem, however, was that the people chose the King and not GOD. This King, who had been chosen by the people, did not represent GOD accurately. He was disobedient towards GOD and consequently his Kingship did not continue – for GOD sought for HIMSELF a man to appoint as King, one after HIS own heart (1 Sam 13:13-14). In 1 Samuel 16, the criteria by which GOD would appoint HIS King is given. It is a simple criterion; GOD does not look at the outward appearance but at the heart. As GOD’s eyes searched the hearts of men, HE found one heart that looked exactly like HIS, and GOD appointed that ‘heart’ as King. GOD appointed David as the King of HIS covenant people.
From that time forward the appointment of King would stand as the office that represents the Heart of GOD. The King would be the office of Shepherd, which represents the SHEPHERD.
David, born from the tribe of Judah, was initially appointed as King over Judah only, while the remaining tribes rather chose Saul to represent them (although it did not last forever).
Even though Saul was chosen by the people, David was chosen by GOD, and after a seven-year reign over Judah, David became King over the whole of Israel. During his forty-year reign David reunited Israel and Judah, and as this was the heart of GOD (and David represented this HEART) GOD gave the following promise.
For thus says the Lord: ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel.’
This would not be a onetime event, but rather a principle by which GOD would shepherd HIS people.
All of this was a natural type (representation) of what would happen in the Spiritual lineage of GOD. If there was a natural Israel of GOD there will be a Spiritual one as well, according to 1 Corinthians 15:46.
Why do we say a Spiritual lineage, we are flesh, are we not? Correct, but Paul explains the difference between the natural and the spiritual people of GOD in Romans 9.
But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.” That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed.
By this we can clearly see that although we are still living in the flesh, there is a Spiritual lineage of GOD.
Another example would be the Lord Jesus Christ.
For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
Jesus Christ was not of the tribe of Judah, he had no natural father and thus no natural lineage. He was of the Spiritual lineage of Judah, just as the prophecies would confirm.
2 Timothy 2:8
Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel.
We once again see the Spiritual line, as this is what follows from the natural types.
Jesus Christ was the first Spiritual type to sit on the throne of David as King, answering to the promise that ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel’.
Now on this we all agree as one.
However, the problem we face is that we think the promise of GOD to David stops there. We were led to believe that this was the end, where in fact this was only the beginning, for GOD wants HIS Kingdom on earth. This is exactly what Jesus Christ started to do, that we need to finish.
Thus says the Lord: ‘If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season, then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My ministers.’
“YOUR Kingdom come. YOUR will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” This is exactly why Moses was called King, why David was appointed as King, why Solomon was made King and constructed the house of GOD, and why Jesus Christ was King of the chosen people of GOD. Because, as it is in Heaven, so also on earth. If GOD is KING in Heaven, then HE wants a King on the earth to represent HIM.
Is this still a strange concept? It may sound strange, but only because we have been brought up by a different culture and mindset.
If this is no longer applicable, why then would Peter refer to a King in 1 Peter 2:17, “Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king”? Remember this is after the time Jesus walked on the earth.
Again, if this is not applicable, why would Paul refer to a King in 1 Timothy 2:2, “For kings, and for all that are in authority?” Paul even uses the plural in this passage. Again, this is after Jesus’ time on earth.
The writer of Hebrews quotes the following prophecy of the new covenant in Jeremiah 31.
Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.”
The only reason it would refer to Judah apart from Israel is because Israel and Judah have not yet become one. Just as in the natural GOD had to start with Judah first, raising up a David that would fight for the covenant of GOD and unite Israel and Judah.
Israel and Judah are not united yet, made evident by the present-day condition of the Church. This is not even a debate, you simply need to do an internet search on how many Christian denominations there are. If Israel and Judah are united, there would be unity in the Church. GOD shows us how this will happen – through the office of HIS ‘David’. He will shepherd the people with the authority and the office of a King.
Is this King going to be more important than anyone else in the body of Christ? Most definitely not. Jesus Christ shows us exactly how the heart of a David is in John 14:12 “he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do”. His heart will be to make the people of GOD more than what He is. He will not come to be served but to serve the body of Christ. Although a King/Leader is different in function they are equal in value.
This is what we believe GOD did in Christ in Me International. GOD’s eyes searched the earth to and fro and found a heart after HIS own heart, and in a supernatural moment, GOD appointed Xandré Strydom as the ‘David’ for this hour. This word was confirmed by the same signs that appointed Jesus Christ as a ‘David’.
In function, Xandré Strydom is the King for this hour who will build the temple of GOD; he will represent the heart of GOD and will shepherd HIS people. He will make them one nation again and make sure they enter the Promised Land and destroy all the giants that hinder them.
Is Xandré Strydom a reincarnated David or Jesus Christ? Most certainly not! He is a normal man like you and me, but he is the one GOD chose to sit on the spiritual throne of David for this hour. When Xandré’s time is over, someone else will sit on the throne of David, and another, and another, until the whole earth is filled with the glory of GOD and He hands over the Kingdom to GOD the FATHER.
“But why can’t Jesus be the King?”, you may ask.
The King must reunite the Church. It has been two thousand years and the Church is more divided than ever. Do you not think that ‘two thousand years and still divided’ is long enough to prove that it is not going to change? Church leaders want to convince you that Jesus is the current or reigning King, because then they can hide behind the lie to rule and reign as ‘kings’ in their own churches. Jesus was an active/reigning King during the time he was on earth and he represented GOD accurately as GOD instructed him. Because Jesus cannot speak for himself today (not an active/reigning King), the church leaders pretend to speak on behalf of Jesus and, lo and behold, the Church keeps on getting divided. If Jesus were here in person, then yes, he would be King to speak on behalf of GOD and unite the Church. We grew up and were made to believe that Jesus is a continuously active/reigning King, but looking at the state of the Church today one might think that he is a bad King, which is blasphemous, as he was a great King. The purpose of a reigning King is to reflect Heaven on earth, just as Jesus prayed in Matthew 6. Jesus did exactly that when he reigned as King for three and a half years. Today, however, Jesus is not on the earth and cannot reflect heaven, because he is in heaven (not in the flesh and therefore not visible to the eye). Jesus Christ will always be a King, but he is not on earth anymore. Looking at Jesus Christ’s short time on earth it was possible to know what GOD was busy with. But now that he is no longer on earth, who is the world looking at now, or rather, who should the world be looking at? The answer is, Sons. The principle is still the same – Sons reflect Heaven, which cannot be said of Christian children who still believe that they are sinners.
We as Christians also have this notion that one day Jesus will return and fix everything and reunite the Church. This is the same mindset children have, an immature ‘daddy will fix everything’ approach. They shy away from their responsibility to grow to mature Sons in Christ and to play their part as Jesus did. Please read the article, “GOD has a Restoration Plan with the Earth”. The Church got stuck on Jesus and did not focus on what Jesus did for the Church.
Please remember this, GOD IS KING! His Sons reflect HIS Kingship on earth – earth must reflect heaven as per Jesus’ prayer in Matthew 6:10. We were all made kings and priests, like Father, like Sons. Please also read “Why Many Sons?”
Church, stop denying your birthright to become mature Sons of GOD. Do what mature Sons do and reflect heaven. Stop delaying the coming of the Lord, GOD lives through you. You are the harvest, a harvest of mature Sons, just like your older brother Jesus Christ (Rom 8).
Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God. “David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children’s children, forever; and My servant David shall be their prince forever. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people. The nations also will know that I, the Lord, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.” ‘ “
From Mark 2, it is evident that Jesus Christ could forgive sin. Did that make him GOD? And if Jesus Christ could forgive sin, why did he have to die on a cross to do so?
Let us start with Mark 2.
Mark 2:4-11 (NKJV)
And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. (5) When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” (6) And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, (7) “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (8) But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts? (9) Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’? (10) But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”–He said to the paralytic, (11) I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”
By now you should understand that GOD wants to bring many Sons to glory. This was made possible by sacrificing one Son so that many Sons could rise from the dead:
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. (10) For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings
You should also understand that Jesus Christ is our older brother, an example of who we are, so that we may know what is expected of us in the resurrection day, or second coming.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
You will realise why it is important for us to explain that you are also a Son once you understand what the purpose is of a Son on the earth and that Sons are without sin, or “not lame”. The lameness experienced by the person in Mark 2, is a condition. GOD had to give us a picture of what sin looks like in the Spirit.
The Greek word used for ‘sin’ in the above-mentioned verse (Mark 2:5) is hamartia. When translated to English, it means ‘to miss the mark’ or ‘not share in the prize’.
Consider the following parable for better understanding.
GOD calls two Christian people to leave their current jobs and lifestyles to become pastors. HE instructs them to raise more Sons of GOD so that the church may mature and obtain the promise of ‘Sonship’ and thus not missing the mark anymore. If they are obedient, GOD will give them the next instruction in the ways of HIS Kingdom so that the Kingdom of GOD can become visible on earth. After every obedient act, GOD will give the next instruction and so forth.
Person one is a loving husband and father of three and very well mannered. He is well positioned financially and a great friend and neighbour. He even takes his family to church every Sunday. Nevertheless, he does not leave his job and lifestyle to answer to GOD’s call and instruction but continues with his current life where he is a great guy and loved by all.
Person two is a drug addict that abuses, steals and lies to get cash for his addiction. His family no longer makes any effort to contact him. He is in and out of jail and is no model citizen. He also does not adhere to GOD’s call and instruction and continue his way of life.
Who is sinning?
Both are sinning. Both individuals are missing the mark by not following the instruction of GOD. Genesis speaks of two trees, the Tree of Life and the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
The Tree of Life is GOOD as opposed to the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which is BAD. Both of these individuals represent the bad tree, even though one bears good fruit and the other bad fruit; it is fruit from the same tree! The knowledge of the good is especially confusing to most Christians as it looks good and sounds good. But it is not life, there is no obedience towards GOD! Both individuals are still kings over their own lives, not allowing GOD to reign as King and Ruler over their lives.
With that said, let us compare the parable to Mark 2. Both individuals are ‘paralytic’ and of no use, spiritually speaking, because they do not listen to the instructions of GOD and therefore cannot make the Kingdom of GOD visible. GOD cannot use them in HIS plan.
Sons, on the other hand, GOD can use because Sons will follow the instructions of GOD as their fruit is from the Tree of Life. They will lay down their lives and follow the instructions of GOD accurately, as Jesus Christ and Paul did.
Through Mark 2, GOD shows us that “the Son of man” will one day have the power to forgive sins (to not miss the mark), because they will teach people the mind of GOD with HIS glory (view, judgement, opinion). Referring to the parable, both individuals, through the power of Christ in them (as born from above Christians) are Sons of GOD. They both have the Godly ability to make choices as trees of life and not as trees of the knowledge of good and evil. Jesus Christ cannot take their sin away or ‘not miss the mark’ on their behalf. It is absurd to argue or believe that Jesus Christ has to make your decisions for you or take your sin away for you, which is one and the same thing. He already delivered us from the position of sin, now we can change our minds to not sin anymore. Both individuals must grow up from spiritual children to mature Sons of GOD (Gal 4) and choose to be obedient and allow GOD to work through them – that is how the Kingdom of GOD becomes visible. This will take them from a state of paralysis to a state of “Arise”, thereby becoming useful to GOD, as per Mark 2.
The Sons of GOD will remove the condition of paralysis from mankind as Jesus Christ rightfully showed us. The more Christians realise that they are also Sons of GOD, the more the ‘paralytic’ state will disappear in their lives. They will move from trees of the knowledge of good and evil to trees of life and bear righteous fruit.
Let us read another scripture on this:
And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. (23) If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
Again, the Greek word used for ‘sin’ in this scripture is hamartia – to miss the mark. So what Jesus Christ is saying to his apostles (teachers), or mature Sons of GOD, is that they will have the ability to teach people who and what they are so that they will also grow up to be mature Sons and not sin (miss the mark) any longer. And if the apostles choose not to teach the people who and what they are, the people will continue to sin, continue to miss the mark (and so will the apostles).
GOD’s dream is for HIS people to be the Tree of Life and not the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil as illustrated in the parable.
At Christ in Me International, we teach people who and what they are so that sin, or the ‘paralytic’ condition, can be removed from their lives. We testify of the works of Jesus Christ through our lives by the GOD-instructed decisions we make.
Thinking back to my childhood, the first ever thought that I remember having about GOD was not of HIS love, but of HIS wrath. If I had to be honest, I would have to confess that the first time I gave my heart to the LORD it was not because I loved HIM. It was because I feared HIM, or rather feared what my end would be if I didn’t believe in HIM… which was to send me to hell.
This notion made me afraid of GOD. It really did. While I was still growing in my knowledge of GOD and struggling with works of the flesh, I would always fear being hit by a car, or whatever sudden calamity would befall me, dying and going to hell. Every day was a struggle within myself. What if I died now, would I be saved, would I go to heaven?
Thank GOD that I was taught about the completed work of our FATHER, which HE did through Jesus Christ on the cross.
In order to gain a better understanding, let us start at the beginning. What exactly happened when Adam fell into sin?
GOD created man in HIS image and likeness so that mankind may rule and reign on earth as GOD would. Adam and Eve were in a position of righteousness. They fell into sin and were no longer in the state of righteousness; they were in the state of sin. Subsequently every child born from there on forward would be born in sin, although that child did not commit any sin. Why is this? Because sin is not something you do, it is something you are. You are either in the position of sin or you are in the position of righteousness.
Let us look at the words of Jesus Christ where he explains this to us.
John 16:8-9 (NKJV)
And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me.
Jesus Christ teaches us that the Spirit will convict us of sin (singular), not sins (plural). Then he explains what this sin (singular) is. It is the act of not believing, showing once again that there are only two positions: a position of righteousness and a position of sin. He is not talking about your carnal sins, which involve the works of the flesh, but of sin, which is the state you are in before you are born into righteousness.
Please look at the definition of ‘sin’; it is the Greek word hamartia, and, in this passage of scripture, it is a noun, not a verb. It is not something you do, it is something you are. Please also note that the Spirit will convict the world of sin, not those who are born again, because they have already been moved over from the state of sin to the state of righteousness. Believers are in the world but not of the world anymore. We have been taught that the Spirit convicts us of sin (the believers), which is not what Scripture teaches us.
The cross of Jesus Christ made it possible to cross over from the position of darkness (sin) to the position of light (righteousness).
Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
How do we become the righteousness of GOD, you may ask?
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
When you believe in the work of the cross, the following happens: GOD forgives your sins, HE saves you and you are born again from HIM, a birth into the position of righteousness. At the very moment you believe and confess (confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, not confess your sins) you are moved from the position of sin to the position of righteousness. GOD is the one who moves you, because you are born from HIM. HE is the one that takes you out and puts you in.
2 Corinthians 5:21
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
The above illustration is what happens when you confess as per Romans 10:9. You pass over. Jesus became sin so that you can become the righteousness – not so that you may do righteousness but that you may become righteousness.
Please look at the definition of the word ‘righteousness’. It is the Greek word dikaiosune which in this passage of scripture is also a noun. Again, this is not something you do, it is something you are. You become righteousness.
What did you do to become sin? Nothing. Adam sinned and we all fell short of the glory of GOD. From Adam, sin was birthed.
What did you do to become the righteousness of GOD? Nothing. Jesus Christ did the work and we simply needed to believe. Due to the work of Jesus Christ, we are born from GOD, which is righteousness in ITSELF.
Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.
GOD is the one who put you in the position of righteousness and there is nothing you can do to remove yourself out of that position, as it was not your work that did the placing in the first place.
GOD saves by way of us being born again, not by forgiving our sins.
Let us look at the natural type of the lamb, in the Old Testament. Once a sacrifice was made for sin on behalf of an individual, it would cover that person for the year to come. Whatever sin they committed in that year, it would already be forgiven (like a prepaid account). It was not committed in hindsight for sins done in the past, but in foresight for sins that would still be committed.
This is the work of the cross, it removed your sin completely, even the sins (works of the flesh) that have not been committed yet. The cross did not only change your position of sin, but also forgave the works of the flesh. FOREVER.
For by one offering He has perfected FOREVER those who are being sanctified.
Our first step into the faith is the forgiveness of sin. If we do not believe that this work has been completed, we will never trust GOD for anything else. We would never be able to move to step two of our faith. If GOD says, then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more“ (Heb 10:17) and this work has not been completed, how would we be able to trust GOD for all the other promises HE made? If the first step is not completed, we will never move to the next step. This is where the church finds itself even after two thousand years, still at the cross; and they miss the purpose of the cross. Because we do not believe we are ‘once saved, always saved’, we stay at the cross, asking for forgiveness for something GOD already accomplished two thousand years ago through the work of Jesus Christ. This work is eternal. Why are we still doubting this? Because of this the church is not growing up to maturity.
And having been perfected, He became the author of ETERNAL SALVATION to all who obey Him.
Do you remember what Adam did when he sinned? He hid himself from GOD. This is what sin consciousness will do to us. If we do not believe this work is complete we will constantly be sin conscious and hide ourselves from GOD.
We know GOD cannot be in the presence of sin. Therefore in the Old Testament, the high priest had to be purified of sin before entering the Holy of Holies. If there was sin in his life he would be struck dead when entering the Holy of Holies. Scripture teaches us that GOD does not live in temples built with hands any more (Acts 17:24) but that our bodies are now the temples in which GOD lives (1 Cor 6:19). If sin (the position) was present in our lives whilst GOD was living in us, we would fall dead on the spot.
Although we still have works of the flesh, we are not sinners any more. You cannot be a sinner and a Child of GOD.
Consider the following question. How many times did you give your heart to the LORD? Once… twice… ten, twenty times? Maybe More? This makes the work of the cross null and void, as if it never happened. You can only give your heart to the LORD once! From thereon forward you are a Child of GOD; you have been born again. You are never again known as a sinner.
You may ask, “Are you telling me that I can never be lost again after I confess the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted his sacrifice for my position of sin? Are you telling me that there is nothing I can do to not be the righteousness of GOD anymore? Are you telling me that even if I curse GOD that I will still be HIS righteousness?” This is exactly what we are saying.
Let us look at the following example.
A husband and a wife have a beautiful child whose name is John. Let us call them Joseph and Mary. John grows up and says to his father Joseph: “I hate you, I do not love you anymore, I want nothing to do with you, you are not my father anymore”. John moves overseas, changes his last name, changes his first name, changes his eye colour, dyes his hair…
Is John still the child of Joseph and Mary? Yes, because John was born from Joseph and Mary and there is nothing that John can do to change that. He will forever be the child of Joseph and Mary.
This is what happens when we are saved. We are born again from GOD. There is nothing you can do to change that. You are born from GOD and HE will forever be your FATHER.
1 John 3:9
Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
You will never be placed in the position of sin again because you were born of GOD the day you accepted the sacrifice. You will be a Child of GOD forever. This is the completed work of the cross.
Does this mean you do not need to ask for forgiveness of your sins at the end of the day? Yes, it is exactly what this means. You cannot ask GOD to forgive your sins, because HE already has.
Do we still repent when we have works of the flesh, however? We most certainly do, but not so that GOD can forgive our sins, for this HE already did, but because we have a relationship with our FATHER and we have a responsibility to represent HIM. So, if I miss the mark with my works of the flesh I will speak to my FATHER and tell HIM I have remorse for what I did wrong, that I am sorry for not representing HIM accurately, that I repent of my works that did not reflect HIS Kingdom and HIS righteousness.
Does this mean we can do whatever we like? Most certainly not. We can never use our freedom as an excuse to do what we want.
1 Peter 2:16
As free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
It would certainly not be the first time for the above question to come up. When Paul ministered the completed work of the cross, the people had the same reasoning, that they could do whatever they wanted. The answer is, No!
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
We are dead and the lives we live we live for HIM. We were not put on this earth to be saved but to represent GOD. To be HIS image and likeness, to rule and reign, to tend and to keep. Earth should reflect heaven; this is done when we represent GOD accurately. We died with Jesus on the cross when we accepted the sacrifice, but more than that, we should be raised with Jesus Christ. If we do whatever we like we have not risen and we are still dead to the plan of GOD. The Kingdom will never be seen in our lives.
1 Peter 4:1-3
Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles–when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.
1 Corinthians 10:23
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
Sometimes we are naughty Children of GOD, but we are still HIS Children. We will always be HIS offspring but sometimes we do not look like HIS offspring. This is sad. For the righteousness of GOD should look like the righteousness of GOD, in word and in action. We may think that this message will make us more likely to ‘sin’, to do the works of the flesh. We may think that this is a license to sin. But Paul teaches us differently.
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
This message will not make us want to sin more, it empowers us to reign as we should.
And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
No one can snatch you out of the FATHER’s hand, not even yourself.
But what about 1 John 1?
1 John 1:5-10
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
We should understand a bit of context when we read 1 John. John wrote this book for the Gnostics. The Gnostics claimed that a truly enlightened man would have a superior spiritual knowledge and this knowledge would bring them to the state of light, the state of righteousness. In fact, the word “gnosis” means “to know”. Gnosticism did not deal with sin, as they believed that sin was in the body and they were spirit, thus there was no need for a sacrifice, for their spirit was not sinful. They did not believe in sin, but rather in ignorance.
This is what John is talking about. He is telling the Gnostics that if you think you are in the light without going through the sacrifice you are lying and fooling yourself. You need to recognise and confess your position of sin; this you do ONCE. He teaches them that if they say that they were not in the position of sin and thus not needing the sacrifice, then they make GOD and Jesus Christ out to be liars.
But what about Heb 10:26?
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
Remember what the function of the Spirit is. To convict the world that they are in a position of sin. Once the Spirit has convicted you and you become aware that the only way to be saved is to accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and to be reborn as a Child of GOD, and you do not accept this sacrifice and stay in that position of sin, you are in trouble. For there is no other sacrifice. If you have received the knowledge, but do not want to accept it, there remains no other sacrifice for you. The only way is through the completed work that GOD did through Jesus Christ.
