What comes to mind when you hear the word King? Does your mind jump to the British royal family perhaps, and to the way they function as royalty in our modern society?
What comes to mind when you hear the word King when referring to religion, more specifically Christianity? Do you think of it as an outdated tradition that one reads about in the Bible, a tradition that is no longer applicable to modern society? Do you perhaps think that the word King only refers to Jesus Christ?
In order to shed some light on this subject, let us start with a verse that is of great importance when trying to understand the Spiritual times we find ourselves in, as we understand that the Old Testament is only a shadow of the Spiritual that is to come (Col 2:17; Heb 10:1).
1 Corinthians 15:46 (NKJV)
However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.
In this scripture, Paul teaches us an important principle, that there will always be a natural example of what the spiritual should be.
Now, let us look at the natural happenings of a covenant people and their leader.
In the Natural, GOD had a chosen people, a nation called for HIS Name. Israel. They were GOD’s covenant people. This covenant people had twelve patriarchs and a thirteenth patriarch that would be known as the priestly order of GOD’s covenant people. The priestly order would be known by the family name of Levi and the high priest would stem from this family.
‘Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.
Moses was the appointed leader over the nation of GOD and as Scripture also states it, he ruled the people like a king (Deut 33: 4-5). Still, it was only after the period of the rule of the Judges that Israel officially appointed their first King. The problem, however, was that the people chose the King and not GOD. This King, who had been chosen by the people, did not represent GOD accurately. He was disobedient towards GOD and consequently his Kingship did not continue – for GOD sought for HIMSELF a man to appoint as King, one after HIS own heart (1 Sam 13:13-14). In 1 Samuel 16, the criteria by which GOD would appoint HIS King is given. It is a simple criterion; GOD does not look at the outward appearance but at the heart. As GOD’s eyes searched the hearts of men, HE found one heart that looked exactly like HIS, and GOD appointed that ‘heart’ as King. GOD appointed David as the King of HIS covenant people.
From that time forward the appointment of King would stand as the office that represents the Heart of GOD. The King would be the office of Shepherd, which represents the SHEPHERD.
David, born from the tribe of Judah, was initially appointed as King over Judah only, while the remaining tribes rather chose Saul to represent them (although it did not last forever).
Even though Saul was chosen by the people, David was chosen by GOD, and after a seven-year reign over Judah, David became King over the whole of Israel. During his forty-year reign David reunited Israel and Judah, and as this was the heart of GOD (and David represented this HEART) GOD gave the following promise.
For thus says the Lord: ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel.’
This would not be a onetime event, but rather a principle by which GOD would shepherd HIS people.
All of this was a natural type (representation) of what would happen in the Spiritual lineage of GOD. If there was a natural Israel of GOD there will be a Spiritual one as well, according to 1 Corinthians 15:46.
Why do we say a Spiritual lineage, we are flesh, are we not? Correct, but Paul explains the difference between the natural and the spiritual people of GOD in Romans 9.
But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.” That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed.
By this we can clearly see that although we are still living in the flesh, there is a Spiritual lineage of GOD.
Another example would be the Lord Jesus Christ.
For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
Jesus Christ was not of the tribe of Judah, he had no natural father and thus no natural lineage. He was of the Spiritual lineage of Judah, just as the prophecies would confirm.
2 Timothy 2:8
Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel.
We once again see the Spiritual line, as this is what follows from the natural types.
Jesus Christ was the first Spiritual type to sit on the throne of David as King, answering to the promise that ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel’.
Now on this we all agree as one.
However, the problem we face is that we think the promise of GOD to David stops there. We were led to believe that this was the end, where in fact this was only the beginning, for GOD wants HIS Kingdom on earth. This is exactly what Jesus Christ started to do, that we need to finish.
Thus says the Lord: ‘If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season, then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My ministers.’
“YOUR Kingdom come. YOUR will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” This is exactly why Moses was called King, why David was appointed as King, why Solomon was made King and constructed the house of GOD, and why Jesus Christ was King of the chosen people of GOD. Because, as it is in Heaven, so also on earth. If GOD is KING in Heaven, then HE wants a King on the earth to represent HIM.
Is this still a strange concept? It may sound strange, but only because we have been brought up by a different culture and mindset.
If this is no longer applicable, why then would Peter refer to a King in 1 Peter 2:17, “Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king”? Remember this is after the time Jesus walked on the earth.
Again, if this is not applicable, why would Paul refer to a King in 1 Timothy 2:2, “For kings, and for all that are in authority?” Paul even uses the plural in this passage. Again, this is after Jesus’ time on earth.
The writer of Hebrews quotes the following prophecy of the new covenant in Jeremiah 31.
Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.”
The only reason it would refer to Judah apart from Israel is because Israel and Judah have not yet become one. Just as in the natural GOD had to start with Judah first, raising up a David that would fight for the covenant of GOD and unite Israel and Judah.
Israel and Judah are not united yet, made evident by the present-day condition of the Church. This is not even a debate, you simply need to do an internet search on how many Christian denominations there are. If Israel and Judah are united, there would be unity in the Church. GOD shows us how this will happen – through the office of HIS ‘David’. He will shepherd the people with the authority and the office of a King.
Is this King going to be more important than anyone else in the body of Christ? Most definitely not. Jesus Christ shows us exactly how the heart of a David is in John 14:12 “he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do”. His heart will be to make the people of GOD more than what He is. He will not come to be served but to serve the body of Christ. Although a King/Leader is different in function they are equal in value.
This is what we believe GOD did in Christ in Me International. GOD’s eyes searched the earth to and fro and found a heart after HIS own heart, and in a supernatural moment, GOD appointed Xandré Strydom as the ‘David’ for this hour. This word was confirmed by the same signs that appointed Jesus Christ as a ‘David’.
In function, Xandré Strydom is the King for this hour who will build the temple of GOD; he will represent the heart of GOD and will shepherd HIS people. He will make them one nation again and make sure they enter the Promised Land and destroy all the giants that hinder them.
Is Xandré Strydom a reincarnated David or Jesus Christ? Most certainly not! He is a normal man like you and me, but he is the one GOD chose to sit on the spiritual throne of David for this hour. When Xandré’s time is over, someone else will sit on the throne of David, and another, and another, until the whole earth is filled with the glory of GOD and He hands over the Kingdom to GOD the FATHER.
“But why can’t Jesus be the King?”, you may ask.
The King must reunite the Church. It has been two thousand years and the Church is more divided than ever. Do you not think that ‘two thousand years and still divided’ is long enough to prove that it is not going to change? Church leaders want to convince you that Jesus is the current or reigning King, because then they can hide behind the lie to rule and reign as ‘kings’ in their own churches. Jesus was an active/reigning King during the time he was on earth and he represented GOD accurately as GOD instructed him. Because Jesus cannot speak for himself today (not an active/reigning King), the church leaders pretend to speak on behalf of Jesus and, lo and behold, the Church keeps on getting divided. If Jesus were here in person, then yes, he would be King to speak on behalf of GOD and unite the Church. We grew up and were made to believe that Jesus is a continuously active/reigning King, but looking at the state of the Church today one might think that he is a bad King, which is blasphemous, as he was a great King. The purpose of a reigning King is to reflect Heaven on earth, just as Jesus prayed in Matthew 6. Jesus did exactly that when he reigned as King for three and a half years. Today, however, Jesus is not on the earth and cannot reflect heaven, because he is in heaven (not in the flesh and therefore not visible to the eye). Jesus Christ will always be a King, but he is not on earth anymore. Looking at Jesus Christ’s short time on earth it was possible to know what GOD was busy with. But now that he is no longer on earth, who is the world looking at now, or rather, who should the world be looking at? The answer is, Sons. The principle is still the same – Sons reflect Heaven, which cannot be said of Christian children who still believe that they are sinners.
We as Christians also have this notion that one day Jesus will return and fix everything and reunite the Church. This is the same mindset children have, an immature ‘daddy will fix everything’ approach. They shy away from their responsibility to grow to mature Sons in Christ and to play their part as Jesus did. Please read the article, “GOD has a Restoration Plan with the Earth”. The Church got stuck on Jesus and did not focus on what Jesus did for the Church.
Please remember this, GOD IS KING! His Sons reflect HIS Kingship on earth – earth must reflect heaven as per Jesus’ prayer in Matthew 6:10. We were all made kings and priests, like Father, like Sons. Please also read “Why Many Sons?”
Church, stop denying your birthright to become mature Sons of GOD. Do what mature Sons do and reflect heaven. Stop delaying the coming of the Lord, GOD lives through you. You are the harvest, a harvest of mature Sons, just like your older brother Jesus Christ (Rom 8).
Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God. “David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children’s children, forever; and My servant David shall be their prince forever. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people. The nations also will know that I, the Lord, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.” ‘ “
From Mark 2, it is evident that Jesus Christ could forgive sin. Did that make him GOD? And if Jesus Christ could forgive sin, why did he have to die on a cross to do so?
Let us start with Mark 2.
Mark 2:4-11 (NKJV)
And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. (5) When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” (6) And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, (7) “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (8) But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts? (9) Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’? (10) But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”–He said to the paralytic, (11) I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”
By now you should understand that GOD wants to bring many Sons to glory. This was made possible by sacrificing one Son so that many Sons could rise from the dead:
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. (10) For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings
You should also understand that Jesus Christ is our older brother, an example of who we are, so that we may know what is expected of us in the resurrection day, or second coming.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
You will realise why it is important for us to explain that you are also a Son once you understand what the purpose is of a Son on the earth and that Sons are without sin, or “not lame”. The lameness experienced by the person in Mark 2, is a condition. GOD had to give us a picture of what sin looks like in the Spirit.
The Greek word used for ‘sin’ in the above-mentioned verse (Mark 2:5) is hamartia. When translated to English, it means ‘to miss the mark’ or ‘not share in the prize’.
Consider the following parable for better understanding.
GOD calls two Christian people to leave their current jobs and lifestyles to become pastors. HE instructs them to raise more Sons of GOD so that the church may mature and obtain the promise of ‘Sonship’ and thus not missing the mark anymore. If they are obedient, GOD will give them the next instruction in the ways of HIS Kingdom so that the Kingdom of GOD can become visible on earth. After every obedient act, GOD will give the next instruction and so forth.
Person one is a loving husband and father of three and very well mannered. He is well positioned financially and a great friend and neighbour. He even takes his family to church every Sunday. Nevertheless, he does not leave his job and lifestyle to answer to GOD’s call and instruction but continues with his current life where he is a great guy and loved by all.
Person two is a drug addict that abuses, steals and lies to get cash for his addiction. His family no longer makes any effort to contact him. He is in and out of jail and is no model citizen. He also does not adhere to GOD’s call and instruction and continue his way of life.
Who is sinning?
Both are sinning. Both individuals are missing the mark by not following the instruction of GOD. Genesis speaks of two trees, the Tree of Life and the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
The Tree of Life is GOOD as opposed to the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which is BAD. Both of these individuals represent the bad tree, even though one bears good fruit and the other bad fruit; it is fruit from the same tree! The knowledge of the good is especially confusing to most Christians as it looks good and sounds good. But it is not life, there is no obedience towards GOD! Both individuals are still kings over their own lives, not allowing GOD to reign as King and Ruler over their lives.
With that said, let us compare the parable to Mark 2. Both individuals are ‘paralytic’ and of no use, spiritually speaking, because they do not listen to the instructions of GOD and therefore cannot make the Kingdom of GOD visible. GOD cannot use them in HIS plan.
Sons, on the other hand, GOD can use because Sons will follow the instructions of GOD as their fruit is from the Tree of Life. They will lay down their lives and follow the instructions of GOD accurately, as Jesus Christ and Paul did.
Through Mark 2, GOD shows us that “the Son of man” will one day have the power to forgive sins (to not miss the mark), because they will teach people the mind of GOD with HIS glory (view, judgement, opinion). Referring to the parable, both individuals, through the power of Christ in them (as born from above Christians) are Sons of GOD. They both have the Godly ability to make choices as trees of life and not as trees of the knowledge of good and evil. Jesus Christ cannot take their sin away or ‘not miss the mark’ on their behalf. It is absurd to argue or believe that Jesus Christ has to make your decisions for you or take your sin away for you, which is one and the same thing. He already delivered us from the position of sin, now we can change our minds to not sin anymore. Both individuals must grow up from spiritual children to mature Sons of GOD (Gal 4) and choose to be obedient and allow GOD to work through them – that is how the Kingdom of GOD becomes visible. This will take them from a state of paralysis to a state of “Arise”, thereby becoming useful to GOD, as per Mark 2.
The Sons of GOD will remove the condition of paralysis from mankind as Jesus Christ rightfully showed us. The more Christians realise that they are also Sons of GOD, the more the ‘paralytic’ state will disappear in their lives. They will move from trees of the knowledge of good and evil to trees of life and bear righteous fruit.
Let us read another scripture on this:
And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. (23) If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
Again, the Greek word used for ‘sin’ in this scripture is hamartia – to miss the mark. So what Jesus Christ is saying to his apostles (teachers), or mature Sons of GOD, is that they will have the ability to teach people who and what they are so that they will also grow up to be mature Sons and not sin (miss the mark) any longer. And if the apostles choose not to teach the people who and what they are, the people will continue to sin, continue to miss the mark (and so will the apostles).
GOD’s dream is for HIS people to be the Tree of Life and not the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil as illustrated in the parable.
At Christ in Me International, we teach people who and what they are so that sin, or the ‘paralytic’ condition, can be removed from their lives. We testify of the works of Jesus Christ through our lives by the GOD-instructed decisions we make.
Thinking back to my childhood, the first ever thought that I remember having about GOD was not of HIS love, but of HIS wrath. If I had to be honest, I would have to confess that the first time I gave my heart to the LORD it was not because I loved HIM. It was because I feared HIM, or rather feared what my end would be if I didn’t believe in HIM… which was to send me to hell.
This notion made me afraid of GOD. It really did. While I was still growing in my knowledge of GOD and struggling with works of the flesh, I would always fear being hit by a car, or whatever sudden calamity would befall me, dying and going to hell. Every day was a struggle within myself. What if I died now, would I be saved, would I go to heaven?
Thank GOD that I was taught about the completed work of our FATHER, which HE did through Jesus Christ on the cross.
In order to gain a better understanding, let us start at the beginning. What exactly happened when Adam fell into sin?
GOD created man in HIS image and likeness so that mankind may rule and reign on earth as GOD would. Adam and Eve were in a position of righteousness. They fell into sin and were no longer in the state of righteousness; they were in the state of sin. Subsequently every child born from there on forward would be born in sin, although that child did not commit any sin. Why is this? Because sin is not something you do, it is something you are. You are either in the position of sin or you are in the position of righteousness.
Let us look at the words of Jesus Christ where he explains this to us.
John 16:8-9 (NKJV)
And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me.
Jesus Christ teaches us that the Spirit will convict us of sin (singular), not sins (plural). Then he explains what this sin (singular) is. It is the act of not believing, showing once again that there are only two positions: a position of righteousness and a position of sin. He is not talking about your carnal sins, which involve the works of the flesh, but of sin, which is the state you are in before you are born into righteousness.
Please look at the definition of ‘sin’; it is the Greek word hamartia, and, in this passage of scripture, it is a noun, not a verb. It is not something you do, it is something you are. Please also note that the Spirit will convict the world of sin, not those who are born again, because they have already been moved over from the state of sin to the state of righteousness. Believers are in the world but not of the world anymore. We have been taught that the Spirit convicts us of sin (the believers), which is not what Scripture teaches us.
The cross of Jesus Christ made it possible to cross over from the position of darkness (sin) to the position of light (righteousness).
Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
How do we become the righteousness of GOD, you may ask?
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
When you believe in the work of the cross, the following happens: GOD forgives your sins, HE saves you and you are born again from HIM, a birth into the position of righteousness. At the very moment you believe and confess (confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, not confess your sins) you are moved from the position of sin to the position of righteousness. GOD is the one who moves you, because you are born from HIM. HE is the one that takes you out and puts you in.
2 Corinthians 5:21
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
The above illustration is what happens when you confess as per Romans 10:9. You pass over. Jesus became sin so that you can become the righteousness – not so that you may do righteousness but that you may become righteousness.
Please look at the definition of the word ‘righteousness’. It is the Greek word dikaiosune which in this passage of scripture is also a noun. Again, this is not something you do, it is something you are. You become righteousness.
What did you do to become sin? Nothing. Adam sinned and we all fell short of the glory of GOD. From Adam, sin was birthed.
What did you do to become the righteousness of GOD? Nothing. Jesus Christ did the work and we simply needed to believe. Due to the work of Jesus Christ, we are born from GOD, which is righteousness in ITSELF.
Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.
GOD is the one who put you in the position of righteousness and there is nothing you can do to remove yourself out of that position, as it was not your work that did the placing in the first place.
GOD saves by way of us being born again, not by forgiving our sins.
Let us look at the natural type of the lamb, in the Old Testament. Once a sacrifice was made for sin on behalf of an individual, it would cover that person for the year to come. Whatever sin they committed in that year, it would already be forgiven (like a prepaid account). It was not committed in hindsight for sins done in the past, but in foresight for sins that would still be committed.
This is the work of the cross, it removed your sin completely, even the sins (works of the flesh) that have not been committed yet. The cross did not only change your position of sin, but also forgave the works of the flesh. FOREVER.
For by one offering He has perfected FOREVER those who are being sanctified.
Our first step into the faith is the forgiveness of sin. If we do not believe that this work has been completed, we will never trust GOD for anything else. We would never be able to move to step two of our faith. If GOD says, then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more“ (Heb 10:17) and this work has not been completed, how would we be able to trust GOD for all the other promises HE made? If the first step is not completed, we will never move to the next step. This is where the church finds itself even after two thousand years, still at the cross; and they miss the purpose of the cross. Because we do not believe we are ‘once saved, always saved’, we stay at the cross, asking for forgiveness for something GOD already accomplished two thousand years ago through the work of Jesus Christ. This work is eternal. Why are we still doubting this? Because of this the church is not growing up to maturity.
And having been perfected, He became the author of ETERNAL SALVATION to all who obey Him.
Do you remember what Adam did when he sinned? He hid himself from GOD. This is what sin consciousness will do to us. If we do not believe this work is complete we will constantly be sin conscious and hide ourselves from GOD.
We know GOD cannot be in the presence of sin. Therefore in the Old Testament, the high priest had to be purified of sin before entering the Holy of Holies. If there was sin in his life he would be struck dead when entering the Holy of Holies. Scripture teaches us that GOD does not live in temples built with hands any more (Acts 17:24) but that our bodies are now the temples in which GOD lives (1 Cor 6:19). If sin (the position) was present in our lives whilst GOD was living in us, we would fall dead on the spot.
Although we still have works of the flesh, we are not sinners any more. You cannot be a sinner and a Child of GOD.
Consider the following question. How many times did you give your heart to the LORD? Once… twice… ten, twenty times? Maybe More? This makes the work of the cross null and void, as if it never happened. You can only give your heart to the LORD once! From thereon forward you are a Child of GOD; you have been born again. You are never again known as a sinner.
You may ask, “Are you telling me that I can never be lost again after I confess the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted his sacrifice for my position of sin? Are you telling me that there is nothing I can do to not be the righteousness of GOD anymore? Are you telling me that even if I curse GOD that I will still be HIS righteousness?” This is exactly what we are saying.
Let us look at the following example.
A husband and a wife have a beautiful child whose name is John. Let us call them Joseph and Mary. John grows up and says to his father Joseph: “I hate you, I do not love you anymore, I want nothing to do with you, you are not my father anymore”. John moves overseas, changes his last name, changes his first name, changes his eye colour, dyes his hair…
Is John still the child of Joseph and Mary? Yes, because John was born from Joseph and Mary and there is nothing that John can do to change that. He will forever be the child of Joseph and Mary.
This is what happens when we are saved. We are born again from GOD. There is nothing you can do to change that. You are born from GOD and HE will forever be your FATHER.
1 John 3:9
Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
You will never be placed in the position of sin again because you were born of GOD the day you accepted the sacrifice. You will be a Child of GOD forever. This is the completed work of the cross.
Does this mean you do not need to ask for forgiveness of your sins at the end of the day? Yes, it is exactly what this means. You cannot ask GOD to forgive your sins, because HE already has.
Do we still repent when we have works of the flesh, however? We most certainly do, but not so that GOD can forgive our sins, for this HE already did, but because we have a relationship with our FATHER and we have a responsibility to represent HIM. So, if I miss the mark with my works of the flesh I will speak to my FATHER and tell HIM I have remorse for what I did wrong, that I am sorry for not representing HIM accurately, that I repent of my works that did not reflect HIS Kingdom and HIS righteousness.
Does this mean we can do whatever we like? Most certainly not. We can never use our freedom as an excuse to do what we want.
1 Peter 2:16
As free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
It would certainly not be the first time for the above question to come up. When Paul ministered the completed work of the cross, the people had the same reasoning, that they could do whatever they wanted. The answer is, No!
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
We are dead and the lives we live we live for HIM. We were not put on this earth to be saved but to represent GOD. To be HIS image and likeness, to rule and reign, to tend and to keep. Earth should reflect heaven; this is done when we represent GOD accurately. We died with Jesus on the cross when we accepted the sacrifice, but more than that, we should be raised with Jesus Christ. If we do whatever we like we have not risen and we are still dead to the plan of GOD. The Kingdom will never be seen in our lives.
1 Peter 4:1-3
Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles–when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.
1 Corinthians 10:23
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
Sometimes we are naughty Children of GOD, but we are still HIS Children. We will always be HIS offspring but sometimes we do not look like HIS offspring. This is sad. For the righteousness of GOD should look like the righteousness of GOD, in word and in action. We may think that this message will make us more likely to ‘sin’, to do the works of the flesh. We may think that this is a license to sin. But Paul teaches us differently.
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
This message will not make us want to sin more, it empowers us to reign as we should.
And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
No one can snatch you out of the FATHER’s hand, not even yourself.
But what about 1 John 1?
1 John 1:5-10
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
We should understand a bit of context when we read 1 John. John wrote this book for the Gnostics. The Gnostics claimed that a truly enlightened man would have a superior spiritual knowledge and this knowledge would bring them to the state of light, the state of righteousness. In fact, the word “gnosis” means “to know”. Gnosticism did not deal with sin, as they believed that sin was in the body and they were spirit, thus there was no need for a sacrifice, for their spirit was not sinful. They did not believe in sin, but rather in ignorance.
This is what John is talking about. He is telling the Gnostics that if you think you are in the light without going through the sacrifice you are lying and fooling yourself. You need to recognise and confess your position of sin; this you do ONCE. He teaches them that if they say that they were not in the position of sin and thus not needing the sacrifice, then they make GOD and Jesus Christ out to be liars.
But what about Heb 10:26?
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
Remember what the function of the Spirit is. To convict the world that they are in a position of sin. Once the Spirit has convicted you and you become aware that the only way to be saved is to accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and to be reborn as a Child of GOD, and you do not accept this sacrifice and stay in that position of sin, you are in trouble. For there is no other sacrifice. If you have received the knowledge, but do not want to accept it, there remains no other sacrifice for you. The only way is through the completed work that GOD did through Jesus Christ.
When measuring the fruit of Christ in Me International, people tend to look at the dividing factor and not the implementing factor. Thus, some people wrongly conclude that Christ in Me International bears bad fruit.
To further explain, let us look at the following narratives taken from the “Does Christ in Me International break up families and marriages” article.
Once upon a time, there was a happily married agnostic couple with three small children. One day, they sat and watched a religious program about Jesus Christ, which stated that if you believe in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross, you would also become a Son of GOD. One parent believed this and became a devoted believer, the other parent stayed an agnostic. Due to their different views, they divorced.
Who was responsible for the divorce?
- Was it the parent who became a believer, because (s)he believed and subsequently changed?
- Was it the parent who did not change, because (s)he would not believe in what Jesus Christ did for him or her?
- Was it the Christian Organisation that produced the program?
- Was it GOD, because HE sent HIS firstborn Son to the cross so that many may pass over into the promise of Sonship?
Once upon a time, there was a family. They were devoted Muslim believers. One day, a family member read an article about Jesus Christ, which stated that if you believe in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross, you would also become a Son of GOD. The family member believed this and become a Christian, but due to fundamental differences in belief, this person ultimately lost contact with his family.
Who was responsible for the breakup of the family?
- Was it the Christian family member, because he chose to leave the Muslim faith?
- Was it the Family, because they chose to stay true to their faith?
- Was it the Christian Organisation that wrote the article?
- Was it the Christian publishing house responsible for the magazine?
- Was it GOD because HE sent HIS firstborn Son to the cross so that many may pass over into the promise of Sonship?”
From the two narratives, the answer is simple. It is GOD’s Word that brings separation! The reasonable conclusion would then be that GOD bears bad fruit. When HIS Word brings separation and ultimately breaks up marriages and families, it causes much pain and contention, which is considered a bad fruit according to Galatians 5. Or, perhaps this is the incorrect conclusion, in other words, maybe the way in which we measure fruit is incorrect? We all know GOD is good, even Jesus himself said that only GOD is good.
Mark 10:18 (NKJV)
So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.
So how then are we supposed to measure fruit? The principle is plain and simple, you look at the tree. Different types of TREES produce different types of fruit. For example: an apple tree produces apples, or spiritually speaking, a person that believes he/she is a sinner (type of tree) will produce sin/not reflecting the Kingdom of GOD (fruit of the tree). A person who believes he/she is the offspring of GOD/Godkind (type of tree) will produce and manifest Kingdom on earth (fruit), as it is in Heaven.
Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
GOD’s Word divides people. HIS Word is the dividing factor. When you apply GOD’s instruction and ways you will change from a ‘Sinner tree’ to a ‘Godkind tree’. The fruit will only then testify of the tree that you have become. Good trees reflect the Kingdom of GOD, as in heaven so on earth. The focus is on the “Kingdom” part. This is GOD’s way. Heaven IS a Kingdom. Bad trees reflect everything but a Kingdom – this includes a democracy mentality with many opinions, because Heaven is not a democracy. Heaven is not run by different opinions and a voting system, therefore the Church of GOD on earth should also not be run by different opinions and a voting system.
When you measure a church’s fruit you look at its people (trees) over a period of time. Are they doing the will of GOD by manifesting the Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven? Does everybody have only one opinion, the opinion of GOD? Are these people laying down their lives and taking up their new lives in Christ as ‘one-minded’ people?
Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Kingdom trees produce: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, as described in Galatians 5:22-23, because when people show these characteristics they are ‘one-minded’.
Democracy trees produce: idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies et cetera because different views produce ‘non-Kingdom-minded’ fruit.
All works of the flesh are linked to people having different opinions and therefore a different system to that of the Kingdom-of-Heaven ‘one-mindedness’. Different opinions are working against the Kingdom of GOD and are prolonging the coming of the LORD.
When you measure Christ in Me International, measure whether we implement and live for the Kingdom of GOD, where you will find good fruit. Yes, some marriages failed, and some families broke up because some chose to stay, and others chose to leave. This is the dividing factor of GOD, not the fruit. To measure the fruit, you need to come and get to know the people of Christ in Me International and experience the Kingdom of GOD.
GOD has only ONE dream:
HE wants to fill the earth with HIS glory (HIS view, judgement and opinion).
GOD has only ONE plan to achieve this dream:
HE has chosen mankind to be ‘IN CHRIST’ (the second Adam specie*).
GOD has only ONE strategy of enforcing this PLAN to achieve HIS dream:
The gospel of the GLORY of Christ (the second Adam specie*), who is the image of GOD, the Sons of Glory.
Psalms 24:1 (NKJV)
A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.
GOD is not mysterious, but understandable; HIS ways are not a secret but were hidden until the right time.
GOD’s ways are not random; HE works with straightforward mathematics.
In Genesis, GOD started off with Adam and Eve, who were supposed to multiply whilst in the image of GOD. But they lost that image of GOD. Since that day, everything GOD did was done with the express purpose of implementing a recovery plan to return mankind to that which Adam and Eve lost – GOD and HIS creation in harmony, on earth (not in Heaven). This is GOD’s only desire.
Jesus Christ was part of that recovery plan. Whatever Jesus Christ did (as he only did what the FATHER told him to do) would further this recovery plan – to restore the earth to its original state, and mankind to GOD’s image. GOD would not give Jesus Christ or any of his prophets, servants or Sons any other instruction than to play their part in restoring the earth to its intended purpose, and mankind to HIS image. This is what GOD is busy with.
This is the mathematics of GOD.
Jesus Christ’s purpose is NOT to take you to heaven; it is mathematically incorrect! It does not add up (mathematically speaking) because that would mean that GOD abandoned HIS original plan with the earth and essentially abandoned the earth, which is unscriptural.
GOD’s equations always point to the same answer – HIS Kingdom on earth, as in Heaven; restoring the fallen state to a restored Kingdom state. We find ourselves in the fallen earth (old) and we, as Sons of GOD, are restoring the old to the new.
We now realise that the cross was only necessary because Adam and Eve fell. Jesus Christ’s work on the cross was not part of the original ‘playbook’, so to speak, it was only put in place afterwards to recover that which Adam lost or, as the word of GOD puts it:
2 Corinthians 5:18
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
If Adam and Eve did not fall then reconciliation would not have been necessary!
Are you starting to see the simple mathematics that GOD put in place for us to understand what HE is busy with?
The earth is a “work in progress” from a fallen state to a Heavenly state (the earth must reflect Heaven), that which Adam and Eve experienced in the beginning. The workers of this project are the Sons of GOD, those who only do what they see the FATHER do because that is the ONLY thing GOD is busy with.
When we look at the works of Jesus Christ, we are in fact looking at the works of GOD. Therefore, at that point in time when Jesus was being crucified, GOD was paying the price together with HIS Lamb, to reconcile mankind to HIMSELF through Jesus Christ. So, Jesus Christ fulfilled his mandate as a worker on the “project” two thousand years ago. He did what GOD asked him to do, reflecting what GOD was doing. The other workers NOW need to continue from where Jesus left the “site” (earth – a work in progress) so to speak because only a Son can reflect what GOD is busy with and the project needs to be finished.
It is very important to understand this equation, for you will need this CALCULATION when you continue to the Doctrines.
The Doctrines are the MATHEMATICAL PROOF of this statement.
This means that every single doctrine or principle that GOD revealed to us, is a mathematical sum that gives an answer. Each answer forms part of a greater equation.
And this greater equation only gives one answer: GOD IS FILLING THE EARTH WITH HIS GLORY (Num 14:21).
You will soon realise that although random Christian principles may sound justifiable standing alone (the trinity doctrine, for instance, or the belief that the plan of GOD is to take us to Heaven) they do not work together to give the answer of: GOD IS FILLING THE EARTH WITH HIS GLORY.
* The newly coined word ‘specie’ (derived from ‘species’) is used to emphasise the fact that there can be only ONE kind or sort (no variation).
We all grew up with the trinity doctrine that there is a ‘GOD the Father’, ‘GOD the Son’ and ‘GOD the Spirit’.
I could never quite grasp the concept of three-beings-in-one as one GOD. It also left me confused as to whom I should pray… Should I pray to the Holy Spirit to help me out of a situation, or to the Son to forgive my trespasses, and what should I pray to the Father, if at all? I asked these questions but was made to understand that it was not right to ask them and was told that I was rebellious because of these questions. The Scripture teaches us that no one can serve two masters (Matt 6:24), as he would automatically give more glory to the one than the other. I can testify to this… At times I gave more glory to the Son, although he said that no servant (referring to himself) was greater than his Master. Jesus Christ also said that a kingdom divided against itself will not stand. I interpreted that a kingdom could not be divided or have more than one Head, yet we divided GOD? Today, the church is divided because we divided GOD, thereby depriving GOD of power, as in unity lies strength.
This subject is probably one of the most sensitive subjects to discuss because the doctrine of the Triune God is the generally accepted doctrine amongst Christian denominations.
Whenever one would differ from the teaching of a Triune God one would immediately be classified with religions like Islam, Buddhism and Judaism – religions that do not believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of GOD, therefore not accepting him as the only sacrifice for sin.
On the other hand, when you do believe in Jesus Christ as the only sacrifice for sin and that he was born of a virgin and that he is the anointed Son of GOD, although not ‘GOD the son’, you are easily classified as a cult or a sect.
With this study, our aim is to not dig too deep into this doctrine theologically, because many theologians even disagree on this matter.
Ever since the Roman Catholic Council of Nicaea accepted a Triune God doctrine, by means of a vote, many Biblical translations and written works have been done from a Triune perspective. However, when we look at the studies and works of many theologians who lived in the years 120-325 AD (before the Council of Nicaea) we clearly see that many of them did not believe in a Trinity doctrine and differed with one another on several aspects.
Looking at what Jesus Christ and the Apostles taught in the Bible we cannot find such a doctrine, but rather the opposite (almost on every page of the New Testament).
In Christ in Me International we do not believe as the mainstream teaches. We believe in the one true GOD – the FATHER of Jesus Christ our Lord. You may ask, what about the Holy Spirit then? Well GOD is SPIRIT (John 4:24) and HE is holy. HE is not a SPIRIT with a Spirit. HE IS SPIRIT.
GOD expresses HIMSELF in diverse ways and sadly, because of some of these expressions, different identities have been attributed to GOD than that which is the one absolute truth. Here are a few simple examples:
There are various scriptures in the Bible that indicate and explain the Person of GOD, HIS identity and who HE is.
- GOD is Word (John 1:1)
- GOD is Spirit (John 4:24)
- GOD is Father (1 Cor 15:24)
From the above, we used to conclude that GOD was three. But the scripture also says:
- GOD is Light (1 John 1:5)
- GOD is Love (1 John 4:8)
According to this, there is already a five-in-one GOD?
- GOD is Judge (Ps 75:7)
- GOD is a consuming fire (Heb 12:29)
- GOD is King (Ps 47:7)
- GOD is sun and shield (Ps 84:11)
- GOD is Creator (Isa 40:28, Isa 43:15, Rom 1:25-27)
Is there now a ten-in-one GOD?
We misinterpreted the diverse ways that GOD expresses HIMSELF – to illustrate HIS fullness of functions – and we made it HIS identity. Thus, GOD became so divided, just naming a few make HIM at least a ten-in-one GOD. We combined and confused GOD’s Person with HIS functions.
Let us look at a familiar example in the natural. A man may have a wife and a son, making him a husband and a father (and since he was also born from a mother and a father, he is also a son). This, however, does not make him three individuals because of his different functions.
Scripture teaches us that the most important commandment is this: “Hear, O Israel, The LORD our God, the LORD is one“ (Mark 12:29 NKJV). This is quoted by Jesus from Deuteronomy 6:4.
Why do we divide GOD into three Beings or Persons when there are so many scriptures stating that GOD is one? The more we divide GOD the more we allow ourselves (even as the church) to be divided and to make allowance for differing from others under the pretence that GOD is divided (thus many denominations worldwide instead of one church). The common assumption is that we are ‘allowed to’ differ in opinion from one another because GOD (as three) differed from one another – for example, Jesus (the Son) praying against the will of his FATHER in Gethsemane. Was GOD then divided in HIMSELF? NO, because GOD is only one
Scripture also states that GOD cannot be tempted by evil, yet Jesus was tempted by the devil. Scripture is clear that there is only one GOD and FATHER of us all; there also should only be one church, one calling, one Spirit, one faith and one baptism (Eph 4:4-6). As Christians we seem to think that it is acceptable to differentiate between different church denominations; we may see these “one’s” Paul is referring to as “diverse” because GOD is “diverse”. It is commonly accepted to look from different angles at the same GOD, and still hit the mark. By accepting and allowing this, we are dividing GOD, going up against HIS most important commandment.
Let’s look at the general way this doctrine is explained.
This picture makes it very clear that both the FATHER and the Son, as well as the Holy Spirit are GOD, yet that the FATHER is not the Son and the Son is not the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is not the FATHER.
With this in mind, it immediately causes a great confusion when just looking at the following two scriptures:
And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
Thus, according to Trinity doctrine, Luke 3:22 says that ‘God the Son’ receives ‘God the Holy Spirit’ but according to John 14:10 it is ‘God the Father’ who lives in the Son, but God is not the Spirit?
There are no scriptures in the Bible that refer to a Trinity. The word “Trinity” does not even appear in the Bible. There are only two scriptures in the Bible that might seem to refer to a Trinity until you look at it without the ‘glasses of a Triune doctrine’.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Take note: It does not say “make disciples in our name”. It also does not say “make disciples in the name of the Father and in the name of the Son and in the name of the Holy Spirit”, referring to “three Gods”. Furthermore, it also does not say “baptize them in the names (plural) of …“
Here it clearly refers to one name. “Name” refers to “authority and character” in the Greek language. Let us look at the following example, there could be thousands of employees working at Sanlam but when one of them wants to sell a policy to anyone, he comes in the name of Sanlam – the authority of Sanlam, one name and one authority. Similarly, when a traffic cop pulls me off the road, he does so in the name of the government, with that authority.
The other scripture that seems to point to a possible Trinity doctrine is…
1 John 5:7
7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.
Notice the two expressions used here… “are one” and “agree as one”. “Are one” means it is the same thing, whereas “agree as one” means that there are three different things that speak of the same thing. The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit is one being… GOD HIMSELF.
‘But the Word is Jesus Christ’ you may say. This is not what Scripture teaches us. The Word is GOD and it lived in Jesus Christ first.
The two general ‘go to’ scriptures that are used to try and ‘prove’ that Jesus is GOD, are John 1 verses 1 and 14.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
It is very important to understand that the word ‘Word’ in John 1 is the word logos (G3056) which is definitely not the word ‘Jesus’ translating to Iēsous/ Ἰησοῦς (G2424), meaning “Jehovah is salvation” according to Thayer’s Greek Lexicon.
John 1:1, 14 (NKJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, G3056 and the Word G3056 was with God, and the Word G3056 was God.
14 And the Word G3056 became flesh and dwelt among [also translated as “in”] us, and we beheld His glory, [the Word’s glory, GOD’s glory] the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
This word “logos” is the same Word that we are born again from.
1 Peter 1:23
23 Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word G3056 of God which lives and abides forever.
What about the virgin birth (thus supernatural conception) of Jesus?
The fact that Jesus, as son of man, was supernaturally born from Mary’s womb is not a valid argument with which to try and prove his divinity. Adam and Eve were also created supernaturally, even more supernaturally than Jesus. In Jesus’ case, he was at least born from the womb of a woman. Adam was created from the dust of the earth and Eve from Adam’s rib bone – and that did not make them GOD.
Even the prophecy over Jesus’ life in Isaiah 7:14 (that Jesus would be born of a virgin and would be called Immanuel, ‘GOD with us’), has no reference to Jesus being GOD. Jesus as Jesus Christ would eventually become the first man in whom GOD’s SPIRIT would dwell and through whom GOD would reveal HIMSELF in the earth. As was the case with Jesus Christ, each of us that is born of the SPIRIT of GOD can now also be called Immanuel, GOD with us.
The reference in Isaiah 9:5 that Jesus will be called: “Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace” also does not indicate that he is GOD.
Remember, Trinitarians teach that the Son is not the FATHER and the FATHER is not the Son, but Isaiah 9:5 says that Jesus would also be called the Everlasting FATHER… These are ‘spirit terms or functions’ that prophesied on what Jesus Christ would be called because of the indwelling of GOD’s SPIRIT after his baptism. It also applies to all of GOD’s Sons who would follow.
GOD is SPIRIT (John 4:24), HE does not have a Spirit, HE is SPIRIT… the Holy SPIRIT.
The moment when GOD’s SPIRIT becomes one with your spirit, is the moment when you are born again, and GOD becomes your FATHER and you become a Son of GOD because of HIS SPIRIT that is now joined with yours. As Jesus Christ was born of GOD, so every reborn Child of GOD is also born of GOD.
GOD is very clear when HE refers to Jesus Christ in the Bible – HE refers to him as HIS beloved Son. HE never introduced Jesus to us as GOD or a ‘co-God’. Jesus Christ also never introduced himself to us as GOD or ‘GOD the Son’. Jesus always referred to GOD as his FATHER.
If by any chance it might have been true that Jesus Christ was GOD, one would think that GOD (or Jesus himself then) would have introduced himself to us in that way. This is not the case. To try and prove that Jesus is GOD, one needs to drastically distort the Scriptures and form unmotivated linguistic arguments.
The question still remains, why would GOD withhold such a great and important truth from us, if indeed it was the case?
Christ in Me International teaches that:
- GOD is not a Triune GOD
- that Jesus is not GOD
- and that “in my name” means “in my authority”
…all of which were official views of many of the early church historians.
Please consider the following statements:
- Jesus never referred to himself as GOD, but to reiterate, he always called GOD his FATHER.
- There are more than forty scriptures in the Bible where Jesus Christ refers to GOD as his FATHER, but no scripture wherein he refers to himself as GOD.
- There is also no reference to him as ‘GOD the Son’, by himself or by any of the apostles.
- Jesus Christ teaches us that GOD is one GOD – our FATHER.
- Although Luke 3:22 says that the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form upon Jesus Christ, Jesus never refers to it as the Holy Spirit dwelling in him but always as the FATHER abiding in him.
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me…
It has never been the mind of the Apostles that Jesus Christ is GOD. They always referred to GOD being the FATHER of Jesus Christ (Rom 15:5-6, 1 Cor 8:6, 2 Cor 1:2-3, 2 Cor 11:31, Eph 1:3, Col 1:3, 1 Pet 1:3).
Jesus Christ, therefore, does not teach us that the Holy Spirit is another God living inside him, but rather that it is the One True GOD – GOD who is SPIRIT (John 4:24), who is also his FATHER – who lives in him.
Please also see the following very simply stated arguments:
- Jesus prayed. Does GOD pray? If so, to whom would GOD pray? And why would Jesus need to pray if he was GOD?
- Jesus prayed to the FATHER, he did not worship himself.
- Jesus died on the cross (GOD cannot die).
- Jesus did the will of his FATHER, not his own will.
- Before he received the SPIRIT at his baptism, Jesus never did any miracles, nor did he tell any parables, according to the Bible. He only started with this from the day he received the SPIRIT of GOD. From there only, being anointed by GOD, he was able to do all things through Christ who strengthened him (Acts 10:36-38).
- If Jesus is GOD, then I am also GOD. Romans 8:29 says that Jesus was the firstborn of many sons to come. GOD is definitely not my brother; HE is my FATHER. Everyone who is born again (Jesus included), is born of the same Seed/Word/Logos (1 Pet 1:23).
- GOD says in Genesis 1:26 that man must reign on the earth. GOD will go against HIS own Word if Jesus is GOD on earth, for man was appointed to reign on earth.
- No one born from a woman was greater than John the Baptist. “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he” (Matt. 11:11). This included Jesus, for he himself was also born from a woman as a son of man.
- When Satan tempted Jesus, Jesus did not say to him that he (Satan) should worship him (Jesus). Jesus said to him: “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve’ “ (Matt 4:10).
- GOD is not a man nor a son of man. “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Num. 23:19). (Also see 1 Sam 15:29, Hos 11:9.)
- Jesus needed to learn obedience, he needed to grow to perfection and was called by GOD as High Priest… He was not born that way. 8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, 10 called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek” (Heb 5:8-10).
- If Jesus was GOD, then why was he given commandments from the FATHER? Why would GOD be giving commands to HIMSELF? 49 ”For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 50 And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak” (John 12:49-50).
- Jesus never claimed the glory he possessed was his own but always acknowledged that he received it from the FATHER. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one (John 17:22). Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You (John 17:7).
- So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God (Mark 10:18). Take note, Jesus the son of man said this.
- And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matt 27:46). GOD cannot forsake HIMSELF?
- Jesus was made (not born) Lord and Christ by GOD. “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” (Acts 2:36)
- Does GOD have a father? It may sound silly to ask something like this, but the answer is a definite ‘NO’, because GOD is the FATHER. Take note, Jesus had a FATHER… GOD.
In response to arguments about John 1:18 that Jesus is GOD, please consider the following clarification:
No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
No one has ever seen GOD, because GOD is SPIRIT and not flesh… which immediately makes the claim that Jesus was GOD null and void, since he was seen. Although the Bible says that GOD, in the time of Adam and Eve, dwelled in the garden and that they experienced HIM there, I assume that they never physically saw HIM. So also, was the case with Moses (and the other prophets), who still could not see GOD even though GOD spoke with him face to face, for GOD is SPIRIT and Moses was a fleshly man.
Jesus, the son of man, at the age of thirty was anointed by GOD at his baptism when the Holy SPIRIT descended on him and stayed on (in) him. (Acts 10: 36-38).
Here Jesus became the first, and in that time, the only Son of GOD on the earth, born from the Bosom/Word/Logos of GOD.
This indwelling of GOD‘s SPIRIT in Jesus Christ is the incarnation of the Word/Logos of GOD. This is where the Word/Logos of GOD, since the fall of Adam, became flesh again. From this “understanding“, from the Logos of GOD, from the same understanding of who and what GOD is –Jesus Christ started to reveal the FATHER in his actions and in his conduct.
Jesus was flesh and blood, born from the womb of the Virgin Mary, the forty-first generation (according to the genealogy register of Matthew 1). He, baby Jesus, was in the womb (bosom) of Mary and never in the bosom of the FATHER. (GOD is SPIRIT and Jesus is flesh.)
When Jesus at his baptism was anointed by GOD, when he was made Christ, “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36) – he became the first, and at that time, the only Son of GOD on the earth, known as Jesus Christ, the forty-second generation (according to the genealogy register of Matthew 1).
A Son of GOD is someone whose spirit, like Jesus’ spirit, becomes one with GOD‘s SPIRIT, whom GOD anoints, who is made a Christ by GOD. No one without the SPIRIT of GOD can be a Son of GOD.
Jesus Christ was the first Son of GOD – the first of many Sons of GOD, brothers of Jesus Christ (Rom 8:29) in whom the Word of GOD would also become flesh… These are the revealed Sons of GOD (Rom 8:19) on whom creation eagerly awaits… Sons who are born from the bosom of the FATHER, who accurately declare and reveal HIM over all the earth, those in whom the Word/Logos of GOD become flesh.
Why is it important not to believe that Jesus is GOD?
For as long as the Church believes that Jesus is GOD, the Church will be without identity and will continue living as immature children without authority and therefore will remain unable to answer to our FATHER‘s dream – the earth to be filled with HIS glory.
Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child [nepios], does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all.
The word ‘child’ in Greek is nēpios and means: “an infant, little child, a minor, not of age, untaught, unskilled”. Whereas a mature Son of GOD is someone who grows up under proper education (under tutors and governors) into his divine/heavenly identity. From this position and authority, he is able to manage his FATHER’s ‘business’, in other words, to bring GOD’s dream into fulfilment.
As long as Jesus is exalted in our minds as ‘GOD the Son’ and we do not come to know him as ‘the Son of GOD’, the first of many sons of GOD, we will spiritually remain children and never grow into mature Sons of GOD. This will prevent GOD’s dream from coming into fulfilment on the earth.
We need to understand that we are equal in value to our older brother Jesus Christ, but different in function. If Jesus remains ‘GOD’ in our minds he will always be ‘more’ valuable than us, he will always be GOD’s only Son in our minds and we will therefore always remain spiritually immature children (nepios) that differ nothing at all from those who are slaves. We will never be able to possess our inheritance and become lords of all.
